ARE ALL YOUR PIECES HANDMADE?
Yes! Each piece is handmade in New Zealand in our seaside sewing studio!
HOW LONG DO CUSTOMS PIECES TAKE TO MAKE?
Turn around times vary, but generally around 6-8 weeks.
HOW SHOULD I WASH MY UP-CYCLED GARMENTS?
Spot clean using a bit of soap (a gentle or plant based one) with cold water in our first recommendation.
Another method is to gently and lightly hand wash the garment in cold water. To dry, please hang the garment inside out in the sun. Antique and vintage fabrics were not made to withstand the wear and tear of modern machine washing and drying. And the sun is a natural disinfectant!
If the garment needs a deep clean (we suggest this only once a year), soak the garment in cold water and a gentle detergent and let it sit just for a short while. Repeat this process without detergent until the water looks clear. Then gently squeeze the water out and hang to dry.
You may want to dry clean but please choose selectively by using cleaners who avoid harmful chemicals like perchloroethylene. And please ask them to skip the plastic cover upon pick up.
WHAT DO I DO IF THE GARMENT NEEDS A REPAIR? DO YOU OFFER REPAIRS? WHAT IS THE COST?
Let's say you ripped or stained the garment considerably, don’t be afraid to patch and mend it yourself. Part of the charm is that you can add a bit of history to the garment.
If the job seems a bit challenging, repairs are considered on a case-by-case basis and the cost will be determined upon return. We ask you to send us a photo and we can have a chat about how to give it some new love. Sometimes these little disasters can turn into big silver linings so don’t fret too much!
