This chore coat style jacket features an incredible antique American string quilt dating from the early 1900s, a true Southern masterpiece meticulously handcrafted with seersucker, flannel, gingham, chambray and calicos fabrics. Fantastic floral, plaids, polka dots and stripes make up this artistic string quilt style- mostly from fabric scraps. Its backing, a plush and indulgent buttery soft, earthy-toned striped flannel, ensures year-round comfort. Filled with medium to lightweight cotton. One of my favorite style of quilting demonstrating the absolute creative ingenuity and beauty in using fabric scraps.
The jacket construction, an embodiment of precision and sophistication, showcases internal and external binding, hand-sewn buttonholes, and reclaimed shanked buttons. For your convenience, it even includes a generously sized internal pocket, perfect for carrying your weekend reading.
