Tropical Spider Web Chore Coat L/ XL

Over 50 hours went into mending and making this collector’s item, this is a real special piece.

This classic chore jacket showcases an absolute masterpiece antique cobweb/spiderweb quilt featuring extremely rare 1930’s-40’s tropical aloha and novelty western prints along with polka dots, ginghams and calicos. Hours went into mending and preserving this quilt, an antique apron was repurposed into internal and external binding, antique and vintage quilt pieces from my personal collection were used to reinforce the lining as well.

Meticulously hand-sewn buttonholes and professionally bound seams reflect the attention to detail bestowed upon this extraordinary creation. More than just a garment, this is wearable folk art, a testament to Americana's rich tapestry. This is the show stopper for someone who really understands and values antique textiles and fashion. For serious collectors.

Measurements (laying flat and buttoned)

Pit to Pit: 61 cm, 24"

Length (top of back of neck excluding collar to bottom of the hem): 76 cm, 30"

Shoulder Length: 19 cm, 7.5"

Sleeve Length Inseam: 54cm, 21.5"

Fit: Can be worn both snug and loose. Please note- this is a delicate item and should be treated with utmost and gentle care.

Care: Spot clean or dry clean ONLY.

There is a small minor area of worn fabric that I have left to preserve the quilt’s design (photo 6). Overtime, depending how frequently this garment is worn and treated, it may need to be replaced. As I like to be transparent about these incredible textiles and their age, I wanted to mention this detail.

If concerned, I am happy to send pre cut/sewn fabric from the original quilt to match the shape identically (though it is not the same pattern fabric) to replace the worn area. Alternatively, I can replace the area in my studio free of charge once approved.

This clothing item might exhibit stains, blemishes, signs of wear, or other indications of its age (over 100 yrs old).  These flaws serve as a testament to our dedication to sustainability and should be embraced with a sense of pride when worn.
